Local Ads

As part of the Google Display Ads team, I helped develop visual and interactive formats that highlight:
- Local Store Ads: Real-time inventory, location, and hours for nearby retailers to drive in-store visits.
- Save Offer Ads: Tap-to-save promotions for fast food, retail, and services, redeemable in-store.
- In-Store Discount Ads: Dynamic promotions on products available only at local retailers like Walmart or Best Buy.
Product
Bridging the gap between online discovery and offline shopping.
Local ad formats were designed to bridge the gap between online discovery and offline shopping by showcasing products and promotions available at nearby physical stores. These formats were optimized to surface relevant offers based on user location and intent, helping consumers make informed shopping decisions while supporting local businesses. This project demonstrated the power of hyper-local digital advertising at scale.

Save Offer
One of the problems that we heard feedback from the users was when they saw these ads in a mobile app, they either had to ignore them (even if they liked them) and continue interacting with the app, or if they were interested and clicked on these ads they would go outside of the app they were using and break their flow. I led a design sprint and came up with a concept that would enable users to save these ads. One of the solutions we experimented with was saving these ads, which had a barcode and a QR code, as an image in users' photo gallery. This would enable users to open these ads as an image from their gallery when they went to a local store and show the QR code to get the discount or special offer.
